Botox
What is BOTOX®?
BOTOX® is the commercial tradename for Botulinum Toxin Type A.
Botulinum Toxin is derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum.
When injected into muscles, Botulinum Toxin has a local effect. It blocks transmission between the nerve endings and muscle fibres around the injection site to cause weakness of the nearby muscle.

How does it work?
BOTOX® works on a muscular level to block the nerve impulses that trigger wrinkle causing contractions. BOTOX® is considered to be one of the safest and most widely researched cosmetic products available today, when administered under medical supervision.

We use highly diluted doses into specific facial muscles using a small, fine needle. This causes the muscle to become temporariliy paralysed, which softens lines and contours. Several injections are usually needed at specific sites, depending on the area being treated.

What results are expected?
BOTOX® can be used to combat crow’s feet, frown and forehead line. A series of tiny injections are administered directly into the area and effects are experienced after approximately 48 hours and for a period of 4-6 months. (The full effects may take 1-2 weeks to develop). A follow up appointment is given after 2 weeks which is totally free of charge.

Does the treatment hurt?
The treatment can cause some minor discomfort, but since the needle is so fine this is usually minimal. Some redness may also appear on the treated area, but that will disappear in an hour or so.

How long does the treatment take?
An initial consultation may take up to 20 minutes, then 15-30 minutes for the treatment itself, depending on the area to be treated. Botox does not require any healing time-you can resume your normal activities immediately. Botox usually takes effect 1 to 3 days after the injections, with maximum effect 1-2 weeks later. The effects last for about 3-4 months.

Juvederm
What happens?
Treatment with Juvéderm® ULTRA can be completed in as little as 15 minutes but it can be longer depending on which areas are being treated. Using a very fine needle your practitioner injects Juvéderm® ULTRA under the surface of the skin - at shallow levels for fine lines and slightly deeper for more severe wrinkles and folds.

Will the treatment be uncomfortable?
Not only is Juvéderm® ULTRA smooth flowing so that it can be injected easily and evenly but it contains lidocaine to help reduce any discomfort during the treatment and the effects of treatment are apparent immediately.

How long do the effects last?
The duration of effect can depend on age, how much filler is injected, where it is placed, the quality of the skin as well as general health and lifestyle. With Juvéderm® ULTRA, however, the beneficial effects can be expected to last for up to one year after treatment.

What are the side effects?
Following the injection, there may be some redness, swelling and bruising around the injection site. Most side effects are mild or moderate in nature and resolve within a few days, these include, but are not limited to, pain / tenderness, firmness, swelling, lumps / bumps, bruising, itching and discolouration. There is also a risk of infection with any injection procedure.

Restylane
What is it?
Restylane® is a dermal filler made from hyaluronic acid, a natural sugar which binds with water and gives our skin volume and a plump look. Restylane, once injected into the body, is able to maintain its volume and shape by using the body's moisture. Restylane is a hydrophilic substance, meaning that it attracts water. As Restylane is naturally absorbed by the body, each molecule of hyaluronic acid binds to more water, helping to increase the duration of the effects.

What does it treat?
Restylane is often injected to improve the appearances of lower face wrinkles and creases, as well as wrinkling under and around the eyes. It is also used to improve lip and mouth lines and increase lip fullness.
The loss of volume in the lips is a major concern for many women.  By injecting Restylane into the lips, lips can be made to look fuller and more pronounced.

Treatment
Restylane is injected into the skin in the area of the fine lines or wrinkles. This will improve the creases, lines or hollows on the skin's surface. Topical anesthetics may be applied to the area to be treated prior to injection. No allergy testing is typically necessary prior to treatment. Restylane does not contain any animal proteins which also limits the risk of animal disease transmission.

How long does it last?
Results from Restylane injections will be seen immediately as the volume of the gel helps to improve wrinkles and hollows. The results will last in the lips anywhere from 3 to 6 months, and on other parts of the face for 6 to 9 months. Also, as with any injectable certain risks of side effects are present which generally include swelling, possible bruising, and some mild redness for a few hours to a week.
